Palate

At once dense and vigorous on the palate, this is the Ceretto family’s singular, flagship Barolo. With a textured mouthfeel and incredibly long finish, the wine’s firm tannins intertwine flawlessly with rich flavors of anis seed, tobacco, chocolate covered cherries and wet flint - a unique combination that is sure to excite, and intrigue, the most staunch Barolo connoisseurs.

Growing Conditions

Barolo’s smallest cru, known as Bricco Rocche is located just outside of Castiglione Falletto, wedged between the vineyards of Villero and Rocche di Castiglione at an altitude of 350–370 meters. Meaning ‘peak of the rock,’ Bricco Rocche has been an exclusive monopoly almost entirely owned by the Ceretto family since the early 1970s. The inimitable vineyard site has a southeast-to-southwest exposure and is located in the center of the DOCG Barolo. Vines are grown both organically and biodynamically and the soil comprises of Diano sandstone, silt and clay which are collectively known for producing wines of great balance.

Winemaking

Ceretto’s organically-grown Nebbiolo goes through a traditional fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Alcoholic fermentation is followed by a 20–25 day maceration and malolactic fermentation is performed in 300L French oak barrels immediately following harvest.

Aging

Upon completion of ML, the wine is then aged for three years in large 20-50HL oak casks. In addition to barrel aging, the wine is also aged for a minimum of one additional year in bottle before release, in accordance with DOCG Barolo aging laws.
