A brief history
The history of Cantine Capetta is one of dedication, entrepreneurship, and attention to quality. The authentic wines of Piedmont come from one of the most important and high-quality wine-growing regions in the world, renowned for its grape varieties and famous wines. Founded by Francesco Capetta in 1953, Cantine Capetta has never stopped growing and expanding its horizons.
In the 1990s, Cantine Capetta conquered the Italian market by being attentive to change, yet always rooted in the territory, with a vision to expand abroad. The company is well-established and consistently successful in its pursuit of quality. Despite its size, the Capetta family continues to apply the same philosophies and control that have driven their success, meeting the challenges of modern business and distribution.
The Duchess Lia flagship brand has allowed Cantine Capetta to become one of the leading Italian distributors of Piedmontese wines in Italy and one of the reference points for international distribution. As the largest Italian producer and distributor of wines from Piedmont, Duchessa Lia offers a special selection of Piedmontese wines made with complete respect for varietal characteristics, producing a range of wines and sparkling wines of impeccable quality and splendid territorial identity.
With her proud and noble bearing, Lia was the most beautiful and sought-after girl in a small town in the heart of Monferrato. She was not of noble birth, but her gait, graceful movement, and the elegance of her simplest gestures made her more interesting and magnetic than any aristocratic woman. Everyone called her the “Duchess”. She was as sincere and authentic as her peasant origins, but the purity of her heart was able to elevate her soul and render her beauty magnetic.
It is from this tale, half truth and half legend, that the «Duchessa Lia» brand took its name. These are genuine, traditional Piedmont wines capable of conveying to everyone, without exception or exclusivity, the nobility and elegance naturally present in Piedmont...one of the most prestigious, diverse, and exciting terroirs in the world.
